Am Morgen des 24. Mai griff eine Bande im Zentrum Cochabambas AktivistInnen der sozialen Bewegungen auf der Plaza 14 de Septiembre gewaltsam an. Dieser feige Angriff war vom Büro des Regionalpräfekten von Cochabamba, Manfred Reyes Villa, aus organisiert. Am Morgen waren die angeheuerten Kriminellen aus der Präfektur gekommen, um den Stand und die aufgestellten Plakate der Jugendorganisation Red Tinku einzureißen.<\/p>\n

Red Tinku organisiert fast täglich Ebene Stände auf diesem Platz und bildet damit einen Treffpunkt für politische Diskussionen und Debatten in der Stadt.<\/p>\n

Nachdem der Stand angegriffen wurde, kamen weitere AktivistInnen zusammen, um gegen die Vorkommnisse zu protestieren. Die CWI-GenossInnen in Cochambamba arbeiten mit Red Tinku zusammen und waren anwesend als die Schlägertruppe das erste Mal anrückte und ebenso als die Protestkundgebung einige Stunden später stattfand. Als der Protest in vollem Gang war und um die 75 Menschen auf dem Platz zusammen gekommen waren, griffen die Schläger erneut an. Diese Mal attackierten sie die DemonstrantInnen direkt und sie versuchten, so viele Leute wie nur möglich zusammenzuschlagen, darunter zwei CWI-GenossInnen.<\/p>\n

Dieser Einschüchterungsversuch fügt sich ein in eine breite, von der Rechten und dem Establishment geführten Kampagne, um mit allen aus ihrer Sicht nötigen Mitteln ihre politischen, ökonomischen und kriminellen Interessen gegen die wachsenden Klassenkämpfe und Proteste zu verteidigen.<\/p>\n

Das CWI in Bolivien ruft zur Organisierung von Verteidigungskomitees und zur Mobilisierung gegen die rechts-konservative Präfektur in Cochabamba sowie gegen die von der Präfektur bezahlten Schlägertruppen auf. <\/p>\n
